Changing Employment - During the processing of Naturalisation application

I will be applying for Naturalisation in a few weeks. Since the application process can take up to 6 months and I have been receiving some interesting offers from new companies, I am considering changing my employer during this time period.

Is this a safe move and will it affect my application?

As I understand the requirements this isn't an issue, and not a material change from your application. Employment/income are not a requirement for naturalisation.

Thanks for the reply.

I am considering mentioning at the end of the application form where we can provide additional details about the possibility of me switching jobs and that I am happy to update them if they would like to know about this change.

Would you suggest that I go ahead with it?

You can of course mention this, for peace of mind.

Secondary Employment

I am not too sure whether to answer "Yes" or "No" for the question "Have you had any other work over the past 10 years or since you came to the UK?"

I started my first permanent job for an IT company (and still work for them) and during my spare time, I created some apps and also opened a private limited company last year to transfer the earnings from my app. However, the income that I have generated from my apps is very minimal and I have not yet transferred it from Apple's and Google's pocket into my bank account. Should I go ahead and say "Yes" to this question because I have a private limited company under my name?

As they are asking I would disclose the ltd company - before they perhaps ask why you didn't - as you said it appears immaterial.

Thanks for the reply. I will mark it as "Yes".

There actually are no further questions after marking it as "Yes". So, I don't have to go into the details.

Looks like the form had a bug and it did not show me the additional employment details section after I selected "Yes".

It shows up when I click on "Show and edit answers". The additional details section requires us to enter the end date even though I am still the current Director of my Private limited company. Any suggestions on what can be done here?

The issue is not your private limited company but the supplementary work you have been doing beside your T2G/SW job.

. There are rules about this and it is essential to keep within these rules to satisfy the good character requirements for British citizenship. The rules are:

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... worker.pdf

In addition to the job specified on the certificate of sponsorship (CoS), a Skilled
Worker’s conditions allow them to do extra work if it is:
• in either a job in Appendix Shortage Occupation List or a job in the same occupation code as the job for which the CoS was assigned
• no more than 20 hours a week
• outside the working hours covered by the CoS
If the extra work meets the above requirements, the applicant does not need to
inform the Home Office before taking extra work.

If you complied with the rules I would answer YES to the question ¬Have you had any other work over the past 10 years or since you came to the UK?" and under details just say "supplementary work under the Tier 2 (General) rules". As start date put the date when you started doing supplementary work and under end date put either "ongoing" or the date when you will be submitting the application.

Thanks for the reply. However, the private limited company is something that I opened after I got my ILR.

I believe I have got full freedom to do multiple jobs after obtaining an ILR. Isn't that the case?

That is correct - once you have ILR there are no immigration restrictions in terms of employment/self-employment, or unemployment.

To summarize everything, I opened the Private Ltd. Company after I got my ILR to transfer earnings from an app that I built (very minimal earnings that it is negligible) and to also maybe leave my permanent job and do contract work in the future.

I have plans to switch to contracting soon. So, shall I go ahead and state the end date of the Private Ltd. Company employment as the application submition date and then mention in the additional information section at the end of the application the following,

"I currently have permanent employment. The Private Ltd. Company was opened after obtaining my ILR mainly to do contract work (which I have not yet started) and I might be switching employment during the course of the application. I will be happy to inform the team about this change, if it is required"

Happy Friday!

Can someone please give me any suggestions/opinions about my post above please?

This is one of the last things remaining for me to submit my application.

I think this looks ok. It's one of those one-off items which are not covered in any guidance and it's best to explain it simply, as you have done.
