Hi

i have received my british citizenship certificate. regarding sending old brp card to biometric products return address at croydon, i have sent back my old passport as well. i have tried everything to get in touch with office but have not heard back anything and its holding my further application for new uk passport.

does anyone can help me with timeframe that how long they normally take to return documents or even returning expired documents if note has been put for returned once cancelled.

Why did you send your expired passport with your BRP after your ceremony?? There was no requirment to do so. Only the brp had to be sent

i had email confirmation to send brp card and any travel documents issued by the home office. so i assumed i have to send passport as well. but i made mistake that i was not supposed to do that.

i need to make new passport application and its on hold till the time i do not receive my old passport and i am not sure how long would it take to receive it back.

You are applying for a British passport? I understand that it is not a pre-requisite to have a valid foreign passport for that purpose. Clearly you need to submit your certificate as proof of citizenship. Dual citizens are normally expected to submit their uncancelled/current passports for HMPO to validate that all names used in the documents agree with each other. You may prefer to wait for your foreign passport to be returned but that could take weeks, or apply to HMPO and include an explanation why you can't provide a foreign passport. Include all correspondence relating to your BRP/passport return.
