Application process and documents clarification

Hi lovely people!
I am getting about confused message. Here is a lot of messages about sending passport away during application for naturalization. However, gov.uk website says 1) you can apply online; 2) You do not need to send your documents anywhere. You can scan them an upload as it was possible with ILR last year...
I thought about applying for naturalization next week as I have some time off and we are going away abroad in April... Just don't want to be in a funny situation.
3 years being in the UK counts at the time of online application... With Covid in past 2 years... Easy 🤣
Thanks

All documents required are scanned and uploaded - you keep all originals including passport.

May I clarify "referee process" or do I need to post another question?
Do I need print the form and let my referee to sign it or is it online now too? When we applied for my daughter's passport last year, it was all online.
Thanks

Your referees must each sign the form.
