Hello everyone, hope you are having a nice day.

After waiting weeks for some supporting evidence to arrive from abroad and having them translated and certified, I am ready to send off my application, even though I am traveling in 3 weeks' time.

I called the Passport office 2 weeks ago, and after explaining my issue, the person on the phone told me that I could send scanned copies of my passport with a cover letter explaining the reason why I am unable to provide the physical booklet, however it turns out that the info they gave me is wrong, after I called yesterday.

Can I still do this, even though my application will take longer to process, or should I wait to do it when I come back later in the year?

What documents did you have to obtain from abroad?
For the passport all that is required is your nat. certificate and your passport (copy if accepted).

Do you know if I can send in a copy of my foreign passport? Or do I need to tell them why I do that?
I need the foreign passport for business travel.
