I think this page used to have a table and most passport applications were 5-6 weeks if I remember correctly: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisat ... -in-the-uk

Now it just says

Processing times in the UK
Allow up to 10 weeks to receive your passport.

If correct, this means the backlogs are growing more and more. Or did this page always say this?

It means the previous service time not achievable and more time to be allowed, decision may come earlier though its mostly later.
