Current passport to apply for citizenship different than the one used to prove identity for the life in the UK test

Hello everyone

I obtained my ILR last year and I am now in the process of applying to british citizenship via naturalisation. As I was filling in the form, I noticed a note stating that the ID document previoulsy used to pass the life in the UK test needs to be the same as the one used for the naturalisation application as well.
I passed the test more than a year ago and the passport I used then to prove my ID is now expired, I have a new one that I am currently using for the application to become british. Does that mean I need to take the test again? or will it be okay not to as long as I include a copy of my old passport as a supporting document alongside a letter explaining that I now hold a new passport different from the one I presented at the life in the uk test centre?

Thank you for your help

No.

You have to submit passports covering 5 years anyway. No letter explaining is required.
