Child British passport application

Hello,

I'm a British citizen by naturalisation and had a new born baby 2 weeks ago , born in the UK. I was got my British citizenship before he was born. I would like to apply for a British passport for my baby, online.

We registered his birth and received a full UK birth certificate.

I understand that I will need to submit his UK birth certificate and proof of my British citizenship as the father and my marriage certificate to the mother.

As regards proof of my British citizenship as the father, do I have submit my original UK passport for processing of my child's application? Or is the passport number and details sufficient.
If physical evidence is required can my certificate of naturalisation be accepted as an alternative to my British passport.

I need my passport in the next few weeks and don't want it to be held by the passport office for potentially 10 weeks for processing of my son's application.

Thanks

As regards proof of my British citizenship as the father, do I have submit my original UK passport for processing of my child's application? Or is the passport number and details sufficient.

Understandable that you're travelling, but most people would rather hold on to their certificate than passport. Either one of them proves that you're British.

I need my passport in the next few weeks and don't want it to be held by the passport office for potentially 10 weeks for processing of my son's application.

Thanks
