BC Application with EU SS - need BRP as well?

I have applied for BC and been requested to complete a BRP application in person.
But I have EU SS already, so why do i need to provide proof of 5yrs residence in UK again?

I have been living in UK for 6 years and married to a UK citizen for 4 years, so its not a huge issue but I'd like to shortcut the process if I can use the EUSS to prove residence and avoid needing a BRP just to apply for BC, if it will then be returned to HO as part of the process. :?

You need to enroll biometrics in person at ukcvas. It is not applying for a BRP.

EU SS just proves you are free from "immigration time restrictions".
You will have to provide proof of residency for the five years prior to the application date. For example, P60s or council tax bills.
Naturalisation is under different law from immigration, with it's own requirements.

What CR001 says. Attending a biometrics appointment is not the same as applying for a BRP.

This confusion is not your fault, the application forms are really badly worded, probably due to recycling forms across immigration routes, and I noticed that at the end of the biometrics booking process for naturalisation it does say that you'll get your new BRP in due course. That's not the case, for naturalisation applications you don't receive a BRP at all, even if you do biometrics.

ok its for biometrics, not a full BRP.

But isnt my residency already proven by the ILR

so why are they asking for

"Proof of living in the UK for xx for 5 years if applying in your own right or 3 years if
applying as the spouse of a British Citizen"

As I replied earlier:

Naturalisation is under different law from immigration, with it's own requirements. Naturalisation isn't a continuation of immigration applications.

No. You could have left the UK right after acquiring ILR and/or not be currently living in the UK.

You need to supply proof of your relevant period of residence right up to your application date, just as anybody else and just as everyone else has done before you when applying for naturalisation.
