Dear all,
I've been granted ILR after 5 year T2 General.
To apply for citizenship - does it have to be immediately after ILR is granted. or it can be anytime later in life for someone who continue to live in UK ?
Regards

If you are not married to a British citizen, you have to wait 12 months on ILR before you can apply for citizenship and that is the earliest you can apply. If you choose to apply later in life, you can apply if you meet all the requirements and you haven't lost your ILR due to be absent from the uk for 2 or more years.

There is no compulsion or requirement for you to apply for naturalisation if you do not want to. It is an entirely voluntary application and you can reside in the UK for as long as you want on ILR.
Keep in mind that while you are on ILR, any children born to you outside the UK will have the same immigration status as the other parent (i.e. the child will not have the right to come to the UK if the other parent does not have that right either).
