Citizenship ceremony - deadline to attending a citizenship ceremony

Dear community,

My application for naturalisation/British citizenship has recently been approved. I received an email from Home Office with subject Citizenship ceremony invitation, and the email body which says my application for British citizenship has been approved.

It's been one week since I received the email from HO. I've been calling my local council Waltham Forest to try arrange a citizenship ceremony. Sadly, the council still has not received my naturalization certificate.

I have a few questions which I hope the community could help answer.

- How long does it often take for council to receive my naturalization certificate from the point of receiving approval email from Home Office?
- On my approval email, it says that I must attend my ceremony within three months of the date of the approval email. Is this set deadline? And could I reach out to any departments to extend the deadline if my council still has does have my naturalization certificate

Thank you!

It can take a couple of weeks. Certificates are sent out in batches.

It is a mandatory set deadline. Unlikely your council will not receive it after 3 months. You are overthinking.
