Travel back to UK without UK passport

I'm now a dual US/UK citizen, but I haven't applied for my UK passport yet - I needed my passport for ID purposes (applying for a mortgage). I now need to travel to Poland and back in the next few days, and will be using my US passport. I just want to confirm - as I'm able to travel visa free using my US passport (both to Poland and UK), I'm assuming I'll have no issues with the Stupid. I'll bring my naturalisation certificate in case I encounter problems with Immigration.
Have I got it wrong or is the above correct? Thanks in advance.

They
won’t like it, but I think it’s possible.

Thanks, I realise the naturalisation certificate isn't actually a travel document, and that I should actually either a) get a UK passport or b) get an entitlement of abode (or whatever it's called). Unfortunately, neither is an option this late in the day, mostly based upon the assumption that I wouldn't have a problem travelling back and forth on a US passport. I just saw a Guardian article about a woman who wasn't able to check into her return flight to UK- she's a dual citizen (Ugandan/UK), and was travelling on her Ugandan passport. RyanAir denied her, but the UK embassy backed her up and said she had the right to enter the UK. I suppose I'm feeling slightly worried that could also happen to me. But, as I said, there is no visa requirement for either UK or Poland for US nationals, I'm hoping it's fine!

Uganda citizens don't have the same visa free travel to the UK like the Americans. She needs to be able to prove that she can fly to the UK, and only a passport can do that. Of course the British embassy would back her up cause she's British.

As someone else mentioned, because I'm American and can travel visa free, I had no problems at all. I was able to use the egates at Bristol airport when I got back, didn't even speak with anyone. It really depends on what passport you have!

That would obviously come to an end when the UK implements the American style EtA (Electronic travel authorization). In order to come to the UK, non-Brits/ Irish citizens would need the EtA to travel in.
Naturally, this cannot be given to a British citizen as they wouldn't/shouldn't need approval to come into the UK. Hence every one would need to get a British passport, to be able to travel to the UK.
