Extending Naturalization Ceremony Date

Hi

Is it possible to extend ceremony date after receiving one?
As per standard timeline, mine one could be in August and I might be on holidays with children.

I am not sure what kind of letter is received for ceremony's appointment. Is there any option in the letter to extend the ceremony in case one cannot attend?

You have 90 days to attend the ceremony. Plan accordingly.

A holiday is hardly an exceptional reason for an extension, which are rarely given and usually only due to extremely exceptional reasons.

I could not understand this!
Does they provide the date to choose from within 90 days of approval?

You get a letter to call the council to book the ceremony. You need to attend within 90 days from when you receive your approval from ukvi.

My personal experience was that, I waited more than 12 days before contacting the council after my partner received the approval letter (we were waiting for my approval, to book the two ceremonies on the same date).

While waiting, and with no further action from our side, the council went ahead and booked a ceremony date without consulting us, and just sent en email to my partner asking him to confirm he would attend on that given date and time. I do not know what would have been the case if he had contacted them before that to arrange a date. I have an inkling that they really never let you chose, I looked at their contact form and it does not let you indicate any preferred dates, only to just declare that you have received an approval letter. So the procedure is probably the same: They just assign you to the next available date.

I suppose if one could not make it, one could just say that, and ask for an alternative date instead of confirming attendance, but that is not what seems to be the preferred procedure.

Some councils yes, not all.
