Mistake on Naturalisation certificate

Hi All,

I need an urgent opinion, I applied for my first adult British passport the day after I acquired citizenship and surrendered the BRP card then I had a medical emergency back home however I had submitted the letter to HMPO but then they phoned me to say the name on the certificate is correct. She said it will be done internally and might take 4 weeks however I had to do it myself in the end and the name change process could take up to 3 months. I am in the middle of nowhere now i couldn't get the passport and don't have BRP card to travel to India either. My Indian passport is with the home office which I sent along with the name change form. I would like to know if I can obtain the Indefinite leave BRP Card and travel down to Liverpool to get the passport to travel to India.

I would appreciate it if you could please let me know if it's possible to obtain the BRPcard for urgent travel purposes.

Thank you.

The minute you attend a British Citizenship ceremony, your ILR BRP becomes invalid. That's why you're asked to cut it up and send it back.

Unfortunately, this is the nature of the beast. You're not alone in the middle of nowhere. Everyone (almost) goes there from after the ceremony till they get a British Passport. Except those that have passports that don't require a visa to re-enter the UK.

You can never get the ILR BRP back. You could apply for https://www.gov.uk/right-of-abode/ ... ntitlement, but it takes much longer than a passport, also more expensive and expires with your foreign passport.
