Travelling with ILR BRP after Citizenship Ceremony

Hi

Received British citizenship certificate today in a ceremony. Have applied for the first British passport (there is no urgent/premium service) as well. It seems British passport application may take up to 10 weeks.

We have to travel in about 5 weeks. If British passport is not received, can we use ILR BRP to travel from and to the UK?

You have to submit your passport with your British passport application, so not sure how you propose traveling if you don't have your foreign passport.

Have posted non-UK passport with naturalization certificate for the application of passport. Original documents sent will have returned in 10 working days.

Are you saying you have received your original foreign passport back after 10 days, or that you expect to receive it after 10 days? If it's only your expectation you are in for a bit of a wait.

Look at the timelines here: british-citizenship/british-passport-ap ... -8875.html.

Documents are always returned after the new passport has been issued. Expecting your original passport within 10 days of application is unrealistic, you are in for a bit of a wait.

Oh you're in for a shock!
Firstly, it takes forever to get the British passport printed and delivered these days. It's all over this forum and the news in general.
Secondly, only after you've received your new passport would you receive your documents back. Not before.

You might have to re-think your travel plans.

We have contacted passport office and they advised to write a letter requesting return of documents urgently. Letter has been posted. Let's see. General helpline is not very helpful. They informed that documents 'should' be in Durham Passport office.

Looks like we can't go to this office without appointment. Any other channel we can use to get the documents back?
