Hi All,

Wanted some advice from the Gurus.

Received Naturalisation approval letter for my wife on 24/10/2022. The letter states the followng:

Please contact the Citizenship Ceremonies Officer Glasgow City to book your ceremony. You must attend your ceremony within three months of the date of this approval email, so please contact the local authority early to ensure you can book a convenient time. Please wait one working days after receiving this approval before you try to book, as it may take a few days for documentation to arrive at the local authority.

The approval letter states that we have to attend the ceremony within 3 months of the date on the approval email.

We have a planned travel to India from 08/11/2022 To 27/02/2023. This is cannot be changed.

The glasgow city council citizenship ceremony states the following:

https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=17721

The Home Office have advised that you now have 6 months from your Poll/Batch Date to arrange your Citizenship Ceremony date.

I have called the council Yesterday and the registrar advised the following:

The system at the moment is not letting them to book a ceremony outside the 3 month period. However, they have asked me to call the council once I return so they can book an appointment. They have also assured me that they would normally keep the certifcates with them for an extra 2 months out with their 6 month window.

I would like to know if anyone has been through the same experience and check if they were able to book an appointment outside the 3 month period.

Most people are only too glad to jump at the ceremony at their earliest convenience. However, if the council has assured you that they can do that for you, then it's all good.
Make sure you get that in writing though!
