Hey!
My driving instructor has been retired last year. Is it acceptable to become my first referee?

doubt that, as it was mentioned on the forums that the idea behind this is that a person is a member of a certain professional body (ADI is this case) and they can leverage it if things go wrong; at the moment he's just a retired person
more knowledgeable folks can provide better advice anyways

Hi,
What does referee should say about how do you know the spplicant?
1: dies the date of meeting applicant with referee should be mentioned?
2: if I am not sureit’s been 3 years , is it ok? Or caseworker will find out .

How do they know you? Friend, Colleague, Employer, Neighbour, etc
No dates are asked for! A referee declaration is needed, not a personal history.
Don't overthink.

Thanks, if the referee says I’m his dentist , irt would be done and do not need to say how long he knows the applicant

Correct - I don't believe there's a separate question for that.

My previous landlord wants to be my referee, so just two words is enough? Previous landlord

That'll be fine - keep it simple - as long as they qualify as referee there shouldn't be an issue.

So it does not matter how long they know the applicant

I’m not sure been 3 years or less that my referee knows me, do they reject my application if my referee knows me less than 3 years or just they asked for other referee?

from the nationality guidance - page 10:
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... ionals.pdf
Quote:
"Referees that do not meet the requirements
If it is clear from the information provided that a referee does not meet the
requirements, you must ask the applicant to provide a different referee."
To avoid delays best to find a ref who knows you for three years ....

As above by alterhase58, why apply while knowing it may be rejected. I may be wrong in your particular case however it is not so difficult to get persons who meets the requirements to be a referee.
Fix this and have a straightshot at the application.

Yes but there is no any section to say how long you know the applicant?

Not in the application form - but in caseworkers guidance, see page 10 -
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... ionals.pdf
So if we know that a referee should have known an applicant for at least three years we should find those who fit the requirement. Don't ask me how they could check - if you can't find a referee that has known you for at least 3 years then perhaps you need to explain the fact in a covering note. There's no mention of discretion in the policy.

An Application form does not contain all the needed information.
If you learn best by experience, proceed. If you don't want to unnecessarily delay your application and start asking for timelines every other day, fix and meet up the requisites.
