Knowledge of English

Hi all,

In the application of citizenship, there is a question: "Do you have a previous visa, entry clearance or leave to remain where you had to prove your knowledge of English?"

And if I press Yes, it asks me to "Tell us the previous visa, entry clearance or leave to remain you had"

My situation is that I applied for a tier 2 general visa a little more than 6 years ago for which I had a NARIC certificate as a proof of English language. I then renewed that visa to cover my 5 years on tier 2 general (skilled worker now) and then applied for ILR and I don't think the NARIC was particularly required for ILR (from what I remember, although I can be wrong).

So, I am not sure what to put here. If anyone has the appropriate knowledge and understanding, and can provide any advice, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!! 🙏

Your Naric qualification comparability statement is valid for a lifetime.

In answer to the question on the form just give details of the visa which required you to evidence your knowledge of English, or your ILR application, the HO will check their records to verify.

Thank you so much!

Just to clarify, when you say which visa, do I write "Tier 2 general" or some actual visa number like COS, or the BRP?

On a totally separate note, can I also ask, that I wasn't in the took a flight out of the country on 1 Dec 2021, does that mean I cannot apply on 2nd Dec 2022 onwards until my date of return the precious year?

Thanks!
