Hi all,

I have a query on my children UK registration as British child.

Children have spent more than 10 years lawfully in the UK. (all under 18 years).
Parents have spent more than 10 years lawfully in the UK.
Children and parents have acquired ILR on the basis of 10 year long residence in the UK (2 months ago).

I read in the MN1 guidance that a child who has spent 10 year lawfully in the UK can apply to register as British using MN1. Can somone please confirm if they can apply?
I understand they can apply upon 12 months completion of having ILR, but can they apply now?

Appreciate your guidance.
Thank you,
TAK

This usually applies to children born in the UK and have lived here for 10 years with very minimal absence.

Children born abroad can apply for citizenship when either parent is also applying (or is already British) and the other parent holds ILR. Their application on form MN1 is at Home Secreatary's Discretion.

Thanks CR001,

Then, I'll wait for my time to come for Naturalisation in July 23 and we could all file the applications at the same time.

Moreover, can you confirm if my wife can also apply for naturalisation with us as she got her ILR In Sep? Or does she has to wait till Sep 23?

Regards,
TAK

Your wife has to wait till Sep '23 to apply. She needs 1 year on ILR. However, if you become British before then, which I largely doubt as your months are not so far apart, then she can apply immediately.
