Hi All,

My son soon reaching 18 years old, at the end of June 2023, and has ILR since March 2021. Both parents are settled (ILR holders) but not British citizens yet.

Should I apply for naturalization or child registration? What will happen if my son turns 18 while waiting for a decision?

You can only apply to register him if under 18 if either patent is also apply at the same time.

Otherwise he can apply to naturalised as an adult once he turns 18 and if he meets all the requirements.

What do you mean by "register home"? I never hear about this term, misprint or not.

If one of the parents should apply with my son, my wife is oversea now and I have just lost my BRP (ILR) card and reported it today. Can I still apply for naturalization while I am waiting for a replacement?

if you have a digital copy of the BRP card, yes you can apply.

Yes, I have a digital copy but Home Office usually asks to return BRP after being granted citizenship, am I right? I bit wondering about that is OK if I just told them I lost it. My understanding is that they will charge me if I lost the card.

You reported to ukvi presumably. Nothing more for you to do, you won't get a fine. You are over thinking.

They only charge you if you apply for a replacement.

Yes, he lived in the UK for 12 years now.

He may be able to register as a British citizen at discretion, because he has ILR, has lived in the UK for more than 10 years and both his parents are also on ILR. It may not be necessary for either one parent to apply for naturalisation at the same time.
