I hope to register my children if i become British in the future. They are all under 18 and have lived most of their lives in the UK.

my question is what is the processing time to register a child?

is there a premium service for MN1 application?

It can take anywhere between 8 weeks and 6 months, sometimes longer.

is there a premium service for MN1 application?

No. There is no fast track or premium service for any citizenship applications.

If they were born outside the UK, keep in mind that in addition to you becoming a British citizen, the second/other parent and children are also expected to hold ILR before the children are registered.

There are also good character requirements for children older than 10 years of age and residence requirements for children older than 13 years of age.

My son was just granted ILR he is 17 yrs and 11 months old. I can register him as a child now. But if i apply next month he will be treated like an adult and would have to wait 12 months before he can apply.

If i apply for him this week before he turns 18 , obviously he won't get a reply in less than a month and he turns 18 and no decision is made will he be treated like an adult? or because he applied as a child his file will be treated as that of a child?

If you manage to get in a valid MN1 application before son turns 18 his application will still be treated as that for a child. Clearly he will turn 18 before the application is decided - the only special thing that he has to do is attend the citizenship ceremony, as he'll be an adult by then (UKVI will request a payment of £80 for the ceremony fee - not included in the MN1 application fee).

I am British and my wife is on Refugee status she is elegible for ILR in 9 months.

our childrens MN-1 Applications were refused despite they lived in the UK for 8 years consecutively and been here most of their lives.

At this point is there anything we can do to change the decision?

Did the letter state it was refused for a specific fee ason, such as neither the children or their mother is not settled in the uk??

Children born abroad require ILR and both parents must have ILR or be applying for citizenship at the same time as the children. You were already advised of this last year.

Children born abroad have no entitlement to register as British regardless of how long they have lived in the uk.

I'm confused. What does the refusal letter say?

That sounds like something you'd be using as an ILR pathway, not straight to citizenship (which the kids might not even be eligible for).
Citizenship and ILR are not the same!

The "most of their lives" standard applies to people applying for ILR who are aged between 18 and 24.

Children born outside the UK who want to be registered as British citizens are expected to have ILR themselves and at least one parent with or applying for British citizenship and the other parent on ILR.

If the other parent is on refugee status, I presume that the children are on a similar status themselves.

Based on the information you have given, the refusal is correct, unless you can give some compelling or compassionate reasons to disregard the requirements.

As an aside, making a pure guess, given the amount of time that the application took to be decided, it is not improbable (though not certain either) that the decision may have been escalated within the Home Office and taken at a higher level than usual.

There has been a change on this point, CR001. There seems to be a new option added late last year for children who have completed 10 years of residence in the UK to be able to register directly for British citizenship.

It is still an application under Section 3(1), at discretion and not an entitlement, but it does open a pathway for children of parents in the UK on the 10 year Long Residence ILR pathway to skip ILR and go straight to registration as they have completed 10 years residence in the UK.
