Hi,
I was on skilled worker visa for last five (2017-2022)
This year, I got my ILR Jan-2022
I quite my job in April and remain Jobless
I haven't leave UK this year (for 1 year ILR)
I plan to apply citizenship next Jan-2023
Do I need to have income (be employeed) this year?
As I cannot find this as a mendatory requirement to apply citizenship from working visa -> ILR
if yes is better,
Can I start a contractor business and have income from aboard? or its better to have income from UK?
Thanks for your suggestion
Cheers

Employment is NOT a requirement for citizenship.
As I cannot find this as a mendatory requirement to apply citizenship from working visa -> ILR
It isn't.

Income earned in the UK or abroad is not relevant/required to be declared, as long as you pay any taxes/NI due (good character aspect).
You are free to start any business or employment at any time.

Hi there,
I start to prepare the document for the citizenship applications, there is one document which I am not sure if I have it.
most recent tax year account statement and corresponding HMRC tax return as proof of self-employment
Some information of my visa history:
- Sep-2015 ~ Dec-2016 Tier 4 Visa
- Dec-2016 ~ Jan-2022 Tier 2 Visa
- 09-April-2022 quit my Tier 2 visa's job
- 15-Sep-2022 setup a limited company and become self-employed
My questions are:
1. most recent tax year account statement, corresponding HMRC tax return, are they the same or different document?
2. I don't have tax return for self-employed record prior to 15-Sep-2022. I believe my latest tax return will be filed end of this year. Do I still need this document?
3. I see someone said its SA300 or SA302 from HMRC, Do I still need to request HMRC the form even if I don't have any record??
Thanks for your answers.
Best regards

Hi there,
I start to prepare the document for the citizenship applications, one documents description is vague:
Proof of living in the UK for XXX for 5 years if applying in your own right o
Some information of my visa history:
- Sep-2015 ~ Dec-2016 Tier 4 Visa
- Dec-2016 ~ Jan-2022 Tier 2 Visa
- 09-April-2022 quit my Tier 2 visa's job
- 15-Sep-2022 setup a limited company and become self-employed
My question is:
- What exact document should I provide? passport record? previous employee letter? my bank statement? etc? I believe my ILR already provide all of these information
- I believe, at least, I need to provide passport record as there is 1 year period to stay in UK?
Thanks for your answers.
Best regards

Proof of living in the uk you only need your passport(s) for the last 5 years, biometric page and all stamped pages.
What you submitted for ILR is irrelevant. Citizenship is not an immigration application and has its own rules and requirements.

None of this applies to you. You are reading information that is not relevant to your immigration route. The link you posted is ONLY relevant to people on the EEA/EU route!!
Please follow the UKVI guidance only relevant to your circumstances.

Thanks for the reply @CR001
My accountant just reply me that I am a limited company director, not self-employee,
I think I make a mistake in the application form,
So I go back to try an new form which select "a director" not self-employee
proof of self-employment document requirement is gone.........
@CR001 Would you advice I make a cover letter and correct this mistake, as this is miner,
Or cancel this application and have a new one?
Many thanks for your advice,
