applying for newborn passort

Hi,
hope all is well.
I got British Citizenship via naturalisation and wife got ILR and we are applying for our baby's passport.
am I right in thinking it is automatic British citizenship?
also the after making online application, it says
"For 1 of your parents, send 1 of the following:
full birth or adoption certificate
naturalisation or registration certificate
the non-British passport they had when you were born showing indefinite leave to remain "
as one of the parents are they referring to my wife as I am already British Citizen or can I simply send the naturalisation certificate to satisfy this req.?

Note the requirement says “send one of the following for one of the parents”.
You got the answer! As a britisch citizen send your Nat certificate…. Assuming baby was born after you naturalised.

well, it is what confusing me.
if I am British citizen, why not ask for my passport..why do they need Naturaisation certs.
the list given from which one is supposed to selected, seems to aim at my wife, not me..
hence why I wanted to confirm from someone who may have gone through this..

A British passport is not definitive proof of British citizenship, only prima facie proof. And there have been a few cases when children who were already issued British passports in error were not issued renewals when they applied for renewal.
Your children and their children may have to prove their right to British citizenship from first principles (British birth certificate, ILR status of the parent at the time of their birth, i.e. parent's ILR BRP card predating their birth, etc)

There are many different ways of applying for a passport - all on the one form ... the certificate is the document that confers citizenship.
the list given from which one is supposed to selected, seems to aim at my wife, not me..
It's a list from which to choose, it's not spefically aimed at your wife ....
hence why I wanted to confirm from someone who may have gone through this..
this is an every day sccenario.

I am going to send them original of my nauturalisation certificate. hope it is enough and they send this back to me..

once I get the british passport for the new born, is there any resttictions on the amount of time baby can spend aboard pls?

A British citizen, whether "native" or naturalised/registered can leave/return at will, stay away as long as they like, or forever.

I guess one has to be also be mindful of the country being visited right..not all countries allow British passport holders to spend time indefinitly..

But your country of origin should be ok unless you are a refugee from there. Clearly immigration rules must be complied with just like here.
