Hi All,

I’m new to immigration board so I don’t know how to post a new question which Is why I’m messaging here.

My question to everyone was, my wife got ILR in November 2022 On a basis 5 year spouse visa. I want to apply for her British citizenship but I’m not sure if I can apply now or she has to wait for 12 months? As I’m a British citizen and she has been in the country for more than 5 years so is she eligible to apply now? Please advice. Thank you.

Kind Regards
Suhel

Post split to it's own topic. You have started a new topic previously when you asked about ILR!

She can apply now if she meets all the requirements.

Hello

Thank you so she can Apply for naturalisation based on 3 years stay in the UK as spouse of British citizen and no need to wait for 12 months.

Wife could have applied in Nov 22 when she received ILR, as spouse of British Citizen, no need to wait.
UKVI Guidance which you have probably reviewed: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... n-guidance

Hi thank you once again, does anyone know the steps of the application once submitted as I’m applying via online.

1. Apply pay and submit online.
2. You will be directed to UKCVA to upload documents and book a biometric appointment.
3. Then you simply wait to hear back from UKVI what the outcome is.
4. If approved, she will need to book a citizenship ceremony with Council.
5. Once she has attended the ceremony and received her naturalisation certificate, then she can apply for a passport.

Hello,

Thank you for your quick reply.

I have one doubt when it says “Apply for naturalisation based on 3 years stay in the UK as spouse of British citizen”
So at the time of marriage I have to be a British citizen or at the time of making an application for naturalisation I have to be British citizen as I was not a British at the time of marriage. Please advice.

Kind Regards

Applicant's spouse is British at the time of application.
