MN1 Queries

Hi!

I received ILR on 3 2023 and would like to register my son (born 16 March 2023) as a British Citizen. I've completed most of the MN1 online and have a few final queries before submitting. At the time of application my son will be around 8 weeks old.

1. Would the child's godmother be an acceptable referee? She's British, not related to the family and over the age of 25. I was unsure if godmother counted as a relative.
2. As our GP and health visitor are unable to do the reference letters, would a friend of ours, who is an NHS doctor and an Irish citizen be an acceptable alternative? Of course, they would be writing the letter as a friend of the family who is a doctor rather than the family doctor.
3. My partner and I are unmarried but are still very much in a relationship and live together. Is there anything to look our for not being married? We will sign the relevant consent letter.
4. The form asks if my son has lived at the same address for 5 years. I've answered "Yes" as if I put "No" I then have to list the addresses. I trust this wont be an issue?
5. We have a dearth of documents - no passport (South African one still coming), no identity card, no travel document, no BRP, etc. All I have is a birth certificate (with parents details), certificate of registration with a GP and all documents for the parents. Are the Home Office generally understanding of the situation? Is there anything additional worth submitting? (I've covered all mandatory documents).

Thank you in advance.

1. Should be fine. Relative is someone related to the applicant through either blood or marriage line.

2. Should be fine yes.

3. Not an issue.

4. Fine.

5. UK Born children do NOT require all of that. Birth cert is fine. Nothing extra needed.
