Hi,
The scenario is that the father has got British citizenship recently while his child is on a dependent visa.
Can he apply for citizenship now as he became a British citizen?
Bit more extra information to keep the scenario more precise:
1. Child was born in India and the father was on Tier-II visa when she was born in India.
2. Child has been in the UK for a little bit more than 3 years now but not more than 5 years.
3. Child is currently on the father's dependant visa while the father has moved into British Citizen status.

Thanks,

Child born before parent became a British citizen doesn't automatically qualify to register as British citizen.
Children born outside the UK are normally required to hold ILR before being able to register as British citizen.
Refer to the guidance: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... gistration

Non-British citizen children born outside the UK follow the UK immigration status of the second/less-privileged parent and would be eligible to register as a British citizen when either
(a) they complete 10 years of residence in the UK before the age of 18, or,
(b) both the child and one parent has ILR and the other parent either has or is applying to become a British citizen.
