Absence rule for spouses

Hi,

When applying for ILR for my wife, I was advised that there is no absence limit for spouse visa holders (180 day limit).

Now we are intending to apply for citizenship and there is a similar rule:

(She cannot have) spent more than 90 days outside the UK in the last 12 months

And also

Your application may be rejected if you were not in the UK exactly 3 years before the Home Office received it.

Is it possible that either of these don’t apply to spouse applications? Or are they strictly enforced at citizenship level?

Citizenship is not an immigration application and is governed by separate rules and requirements.

For citizenship, the absence rules and the physically present at the start of the qualifying period rule applies to everyone.

You were advised previously that citizenship has separate requirements etc.
