Leave of absence - naturalisation

Hi all,

I am currently in the process of completing my naturalisation application. I am currently on ILR (granted in 2019). Towards the end of the application, it's asking for leave of absence and mentions to points to be eligible
  • spent more than 450 days outside the UK during the 5 years before your application
spent more than 90 days outside the UK in the last 12 months
Although I meet the 2nd point, I don't meet the 1st point. In the last 5 years, I have been away for 600 days (which is more than 450 days in the eligibility criteria).

Off the 600 days outside UK, majority of it was because of one episode of 517 days, when I was on ILR and had to leave the country just before the 1st lockdown. During this period I was working remotely for my employer in UK and was paying tax here in the UK.

Question: Will I be eligible for naturalisation? Do I need to support my case with any other extra document ion? If 'Yes', how?

Really appreciate your support or advice on this.

Thank you
Naturalisation isn't an immigration application. The rules aren't that flexible. You simply don't meet the requirements. Wait till you do and apply.

FYI, you also need to be physically in the UK 5 years to the day you apply.

If not done so already review the AN guidance issued by the Home Office UKVI - absences section:
