Hi All,

I have two daughters who born outside the united kingdom, they came with me as a dependant visa, they spend 5.5 years as dependent on tier2 visa and talent visa. now I am British and my wife has an ILR

Both my daughters applied for (registration of a child under 18 as a British citizen) with their dependant BRP not ILR in line with my wife for naturalisation on the 1st of May 2023. however, we have not received a decision yet and my daughter's BRP will be expired in September. what should I do so that their stay does not become illegal After September.

I would really appreciate your advice on this.

Why did you not apply for their ilr with your spouse?

How old are the children?

Children born abroad are expected to hold ILR before they can apply for citizenship. They have no entitlement to register as british like uk born children have.

I have been told by a solicitor I can apply for my children without ILR and I checked that in the gov website

they are 8 and 6 years
