Application Raises Exceptionally Complex Issue

My cousin applied for their British Citizenship exactly 8 weeks ago and received an email this morning stating that the application raises exceptionally complex issues and the application won’t be processes within 6 months.

Could someone here please shed some light on this email? Is it a fairly common occurence?

Many thanks in advance!

Thanks a lot. Did it result in a successful application for those who got this email?

We haven't seen reports of refusals based on this email - also the refusal rate for naturalisation generally is relatively small, there are only very few reasons why applications fail, primarily due to statutory requirements not met. Cynics might say these emails are really saying they are late in processing, rather than an indication of issues with the application.

@Fourstar,

Can you desist from asking everyone for updates on their applications? Stands you well to seek your clarification or questions in your own thread.

Ofcourse I’ve concerns and actively seeking any info I can get, but I wasn’t aware it will cause discomfort to you.. respectfully I didn’t see any policy or limit where I’ve to seek permission to follow up valid queries from applicant.. peace

Congratulations!

Presumably there was no mention of the "complex issues" - I wouldn't expect so.
