Hi all,

I was granted ILR on 8th September 2023 as a spouse of a British citizen. I traveled to Ghana in January 2023 for 4 weeks. I understand I could apply for naturalisation if I have been in the UK for 4 continues years. I want to find out if my 28 days out of the UK in January means I'll have to wait for 12 months before I apply. Can someone please assist me with this.
Thank you

Your absences are not related to the 12 months wait time after obtaining ILR.
Unless you are spouse of a British citizen you will have to wait 12 months after gaining ILR.
The lawful residency period is five years, not four as you stated.

Your application would be based on 3 years residence, not 4 years if your spouse is british

Your travel is fine. Unsure why you think it is a problem.

You need to ensure you meet all the requirements, including being physically present in the uk at the start of the 3 year qualifying period and meet the absence limit requirements if no more than 270 days in rhe whole 3 years and no more than 90 days in the last 12 months
