Child application asking about grandparent information??? Not relevant!

Hi all,

Applying for citizenship for my 9 year old daughter. When trying to choose which category to select I'm not sure which one to choose: Since both her parents are now UK citizens the only one I see that's relevant to her is "Other- apply at the discretion of the Home Secretary" but my wife says I should choose "One or both of your parents is applying for British citizenship.". But we've already applied.... so I'm confused.

But either one I choose I keep getting a "Grandparent details" question regarding citizenship by descent? Has anyone encountered this before? Can I just choose "I don't not know these details and move on?"

Thanks!

P.S. I did find a thread on this but the assumption was that a mistake was made on the application. I am sure I have not

For children born abroad, it is OTHER.

The form is used for multiple different routes. Grandparents details are NOT required in your circumstances.

You could have included the child in your or your partners application, keep it simple.

Thank you for that! So it doesn't allow me to skip the question, so I can just tick the box that says "I do not know these details"? There's no other option

Ok. Why don't they make the application not ask that question if it isn't relevant?

The same form is used for multiple routes to citizenship, there are 7 routes this form covers, including children of British citizens by descent, where grandparent details are relevant. Simply ignore questions that are not relevant to you.
