UK naturalisation Application timing

Hi All,
I’m in process of applying for UK naturalisation & have following queries if anyone can clarify:
- Application timing: I’ve received my ILR on 4th Oct 2022. I understand that one need to spend 12 months on ILR before applying for the naturalisation. Given the hike in immigration fees starting from 4th Oct 2023 (Bad luck
), Can one apply on 3rd Oct 2023 as technically 12months completes on 3rd Oct ?
- Referee: Can I use details of a teaching assistant as a professional Referee for naturalisation application? As per the approved list, teacher job role is mentioned as one of the professional job family but not sure if assistant teacher is considered having “professional standing”?
Thanks in advance!

A full calendar year is the requirement unfortunately. I think it's a 15% hike in fees. The HO loves their money. I'm sure they would see thru you if you gave that a go.

Is the assistant registered as a Teacher. Does s/he have a teacher reference number ( TRN )?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for a quick reply!
While searching through the forum, I found following post (I should have done the hard search before

).
british-citizenship/british-citizenship ... 68496.html
As per this, one can submit the online application before & as per the Home office guideline the case worker has a discretion
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... retion.pdf
Page 26
Discretion to disregard immigration time restrictions in the 12 months prior to application can be exercised if one of more of the following is met:
- the applicant had less than 12 months free from time restrictions when they
applied, but meets the requirement by the time you consider the application,
and all the other requirements are met
So it seems, it will be within this guideline. Anyways, In my case I'm submitting only 1 day before my 12 moths qualifying period. I will make sure to book bio-metric appointment after 4th Oct 2023.This way the case worker will get the case to process after my 12 moths qualification. hope this works as it has worked for others in the past.
