Hi there

We have just submitted my wife's naturalisation citizenship application. I hold a British passport through birth and we have been in the UK together for the last 5 years. I understand that a Section 6(2) application does not require you to have an intention to make the UK your principal home. However, in the application it does ask whether we plan to make the UK our home.

We are in fact moving to Malta at the end of November so won't be making the UK our permanent home for now, although this may change in the future depending on how the job goes and whether we decide to return to the UK for our children's education (both our children hold British passport by birth).

Will stating that the UK is not our intended main home for the future affect the application given that this is not a requirement under Section 6(2)?

The system can ask what question it likes, as it's generic. There's only one naturalisation form. Not different forms form different categories.

The future intention criteria doesn't apply to section 6(2) as you've rightly deduced. You can say what you like, it has no effect.

Ah wonderful thank you so much for confirming! I thought that was the case so I am glad to hear that us leaving the UK won't affect the outcome of the application given its a Section 6(2) applicatoin!
