Passport stolen while waiting for naturalisation decision

Hoping someone can help me.

I was attacked and had my handbag stolen when returning from the airport at night.
My passport and BRP were in the bag as I was returning from abroad.
I've informed the police.

Should I, or rather, can I apply for a passport and BRP again while I wait for a decision? Particularly concerned as the passport will be required for a British passport application, if I receive an approval.

Thank you in advance.

Yes you can. Nothing prevents you from doing so.

Note that a brp replacement can take up to 6 months.

Thank you. What happens if I get an approval before I receive a new passport and/or BRP? Can I still apply for a UK passport without an existing passport?

You need your foreign passport to be able to apply for a British Passport and you have to send the original foreign passport with your application.

You do not need the BRP to apply for a British passport.
