Gap in the Employment History after 5 years and Change the name of the Company

Hello,

I am opening this thread as I have been searching previous posts but I could not find an answer. I started to apply for British Citizenship and to gather all the documents in support of my application.

I understand that it seems that the past employment history for the past 10 years has been scrapped (checking this previous post:
british-citizenship/employment-history- ... 33981.html )

I also understand that I need to give the reference of my current employer and the HMRC can track down all my employment history. I have been living in the UK for the past 6 years on a continuous basis.
However, I was abroad between 2013 and 2016, therefore I have nothing to declare to the HMRC about these years that is related to tax and national insurance as I was working and studying overseas.

Can I ask if I have to justify this gap in my cover letter please?

In addition, my current employer changed its name to the Company House last year and the payroll team of my company messed up and used the old company name on my last P60 for the year 2022/23. I am going to report the correct one on my tax return to shows the correct one. However, my last P60 from my employee job still shows the old name.
Can I ask if I have to indicate this in my support letter, please?

Apologies if the previous questions have been answered before, but I couldn't find a specific reference for those. Thanks again for your help and support :-)

You don’t have to justify gaps in employment. Employment isn’t a requirement for naturalisation. For current employer state the current name. Generally employers tax ref won’t change with name change.

Hello alterhase58,

Thank you for your reply and for your help on this, I appreciate it :) Yeah, I could see that it's the same account page for my company in the Company House database, even if they changed the name. I'll follow your advice then.
Thank you again for your help on my case :)

Discrepancy between Letter of Presence and Leaving Date P45

Hello,

Hope that someone can help me with this conundrum. I have submitted the application for my citizenship. Now I have to provide the evidence of my residence in the UK for the past 5 years.

In my previous job, they issued a letter of presence at that time. However, they indicated a date in my letter which is after the leaving date shown on my P45 (11 September 2019 instead of 4 September 2019).The HR indicated the 11 September because, even if my employer decided to end my contract on the 4 September, he gave me one week of notice before officially terminating my contract. They told me at that time that my salary was included until 11 September, but if they communicate the leaving date on 4 September on my P45 I am not sure if this may issue a red flag.

Can I ask if I have to specify this discrepancy in my Cover Letter please? If this is the case, can you tell me what I should indicate in my cover letter to avoid confusion please? or should I ignore the letter of presence and forward only the P45 for that employment? (I have also got the P60 from my current employer for that specific year).
Thank you for your help and support

You are overthinking, in my view.
There's nothing to be explained for a gap of a few days in employment documents, no need for a covering letter.
