Hi all together,

I applied on 5.8. this year for citizenship, had my Biometric appointment on 9.8.

Of course,I haven't received an approval till now.
I would like to go for several months to the Caribbean and I'm afraid to get the approval and the link to book my ceremony during the time I'm abroad.
My plan was to leave the UK end of January till end of March.

Is it possible,if I would receive the approval and link to book citizenship,to postpne it,to ignore it and book it when I'm back end of March?

I still got my German passport ,got Settled status and to wait and to get a British passport would take too long ,that it is worth to go abroad, because I have to start again to work on 1.April.

I'm grateful for every advice, what to do best.

Thank you,in advance
Claudia

Do not ignore….

From the guidance:
“ normally expect you to arrange to attend a ceremony within 3 months of receiving your invitation otherwise it will expire, and you will have to re- apply for registration and pay a further processing fee.“
https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... bookmark35

Unless you receive the approval any day soon suggest you think about a workaround.
Certainly if you have to wait another month or two you might be able to arrange ceremony for when you get back. Note though that public ceremonies are not held regularly. You could book a chargeable private ceremony which are normally available any time.

Thank you ,for your advice and the suggestion to book a private ceremony. That might speed up the process.

Means, the best is,I wait till mid of January ,before I take the risk to leave the country and get the approval.
If I have no response till than,I leave ,in worst case ,I have to return after a short time.

Thank you.
Kind regards
Claudia

Just for general knowledge, my council didn't offer private ceremonies at any time - they have a schedule for those as well. It could be worth asking your council what kind of arrangements they have for private ceremonies
