Hi All,

Need some guidance for my application for Naturalisation. We are a family of 4 with an adult child. Just realized that she needs to write her Life in the UK test. Is this advisable if we want to go ahead with our application for myself, my wife and the minor child? and then later after few months apply for my adult child? Does this affect anything on the decision?

There isn't a family application for naturalisation - every applicant is assessed individually (also no discount on the fees....).
You can apply altogether if you all satisfy the requirements (including wife's LITUK), or individually.
Adult children are adults, so adult "child" has to apply as an adult, satisfying all requirements, including tests.

Thanks for the response and the guidance. For my minor child (13 yrs), can you explain what do you mean by 'child gets registered'? Dont I need to include her in the application? Apologies if its a stupid question.

Can you also point me to the link for the exhaustive list of documents to be submitted alongwith the application both for adult and minor?

Children are registered as British under form MN1 - it's a sort of naturalisation but has different requirements from adults.

Not a stupid question - difficult even for experts to know all the subtleties of British nationality law.
You can still add minor child to your application (adult AN), once all the adults have been added then select "child under 18" and the system will adjust to form MN1. Requirements for children are different from adults. See Guidance.

Note, for all applicants there is a minimum of documents to be submitted, note it's not an immigration application. Nationality has it's own laws and regulations with different requirement compared to immigration rules.
There's no exhaustive list of documents required. For child the MN1 Guidance show documents required for a variety of scenerios, click on the MN1 guidance link.
For adults, basically: Passport, BRP, English test, LITUK test and two referee declarations per applicant (including for child).
That's it.

Do ask further if things are not clear.

She need the IELTS SELT B1 test and LIUK. A levels is not accepted.

Thanks, do my other 13 year old need IELTS test as well?

Children (under 18s) don't have to take the tests.
