Hi, I recently been approved for British citizenship, my only worries is on my British certificate it contain 3 names including my middle name, but my current foreign passport contain my first name and last name(sir name) no middle name, so my question is would that be a problem when it comes to apply for British passport? As it will show 2 names instead of 3 from my certificate and my foreign passport? Please assist

Does Tanzania allow dual citizenship?
How easy is it to get a Tanzanian passport renewed/re-issued in correct name - and why have they originally left out the middle name?
HMPO expects that all documents show the correct name (i.e. per certificate & foreign passports), unless there are good reasons why they can't be aligned.

Hello mate thank you for replying so quickly I really do appreciated, Tanzania does not allow dual citizenship, also it’s a long process to get the 3 name inserted in a passport, as you know Africa so behind on simple basic thing, so what options do I have?

All I can suggest that you make an application with HMPO explaining that
- dual nationality is not allowed
- trying to get a passport issued is a lengthy process and probably you won’t be able to get one because Tanzania might say you are no longer a citizen (if that’s the consequence of you taking another nationality).
Gather some background info from official government websites or even emails confirming the facts.
I will look for the link to the HMPO guidance regarding name issues, you could refer to that in your covering letter.

Note if you are tempted to call the HMPO helpline you may find that different agents give you different advice. You may as well quote them their own guidance or ask for a senior manager.
