Citizenship for child born in the UK

Hi everyone,

I will appreciate any advice on my issue. I got a Skilled Worker Visa in Dec 2019 and will be eligible for ILR in Dec 2024. I have two kids who were born in April 2019 (when I was on a student visa) and Feb 2022, respectfully.

My question is whether I need to apply for ILR for my kids as well? Because of the ILR costs, my preferred option would be to apply for ILR for myself and wife (my wife is also eligible to apply in Dec 2024) and then after that apply for citizenship for my kids, since they were born here and I and my wife would have obtained the ILR which will then make my kids eligible for citizenship. Is it okay NOT TO apply for ILR for my kids.

N.B: my kids do not have any dependents visa as they were born here and haven't travelled outside the UK since then.

Many thanks in ad for your response(s)

It’s okay NOT TO apply for ILR for your kids, if they were born in the UK. They are entitled to register for British citizenship directly after a parent is granted ILR. However, consider getting adequate health insurance for them.
