Dear experts

Is the 6 months period that the HO aim to give a decision on naturalisation counted in weeks or months?

i.e. if applied on the 10th of August 2023, does the 6 months end on the 10th of Feb 2024 or on the 25th of Jan 2024?

There’s no calculation in the regulations, I always take it from 10th to 10th. Honestly it doesn’t make any difference, but I always put a few extra days on, just in case.

From what I know it is 6 months (not weeks) from the day you submitted biometrics. Not that it's set in stone anyway, hard to know how the HO measures things in much detail.

Thanks both and agreed, there isn't much difference to be fair.

On another note, from your experience, does most applicant get an email to explain that a decision wont be reached in 6 months? or this may not even happen?

Most applicants AFAIK are contacted if the application will not be decided within SLA. It will appear this is automated to the time and as it reaches a mail is triggered and fired off to applicants email address.

Great, thank you for that.
