When does the timeline for the decision start?

Hi Everyone,
I had submitted my application for naturalisation on 28th dec 2023 and my biometrics appointment was done on 18th Jan 2024.
Question - when would the timeline for me start. Is it the online application submission or the biometrics collection date?
Looking forward to your opinions.
Kind Regards

Of course the 6 months is an "aspiration" not a promise. Could be faster or slower.

Yes the 6 months timeline is just a guideline. Many people say it's the biometric date but I'll say it's the application date.
From my own stats, currently, if your case is straightforward, you get a decision (the official email notice from HO) between 101 to 120 days from the application date, if you attend your biometric appointment in 6 weeks. You may get the decision earlier from your local council or email enquiry.
The biometric appointment date is totally irrelevant to when you get your decision if it's not more than 6 weeks after you applied.

The evidence from timelines posted suggests strongly to me it is application date.
