Dear all,
I am preparing to apply naturalisation .
I have a question.
I had non payment of council tax back in 2016 .i was responsible to pay the council tax as i was main Tanent on the contract.
Then after 2 years rent contract moved to one of my house mate name and I started living at the same property as lodger.
Just recently my societies asked same to check all these things before apply I came to know that I owed to council £51 as soon as I saw it I payed immediately.
The blu online account there was one summon letter which of course I didn’t know that’s why I couldn’t attend.
I called the council to know if there was any court proceeding about my council tax guy over a phone confirmed that council withdraw the application from court and there was no court proceeding.
And recently I received the letter from council that I have paid everything .
My question is filling up application form shall I mentions this whole scenario on the application or cover letter .
And is there anybody who had similier issue and approved naturalisation .
Thanks for reading.
Your valuable advice would be much appreciated .

You may declare it or not. Several cases like yours on here.
You have paid and no court proceedings so either way no adverse effect on application.

There was no court case against you, you paid what you owed as soon as you found out. Unlikely to cause an issue, you can disclose if you wish but in your case it may well not be necessary as you didn't get a fine or similar.

It’s very annoying that people come on this form and ask for suggestions and then never come back to enlighten other users of this form about their experience .
I have seen many posts in this form regarding council tax issue but nobody came back either were they successful or not .

Thanks does home office checks these kind of matters as I never miss my taxes in any way.

They would check your records with the courts and the police, but you paid your bill, so there shouldn't be an issue. If you really want peace of mind write to your council and ask for their recollection of what happened and reference it in your application, but there was no fine or court action, so I don't think you need to worry.

Taxes are a fact of life, even the most conscientious fall behind, or make mistakes, or sometimes get a tax refund because we paid too much. Whilst we may not trust UKVI I can't believe they look to trip you up. Unless you have been taken to court for tax evasion there's no comeback if you haven't been convicted and you have paid your dues no issue.

I am on paye since I came in the uk .as for the council tax that was £150 in 2017 months including court Simin fees. But in 2019 they reduced it to £51 and council tax bill states correction of the bill.
The very next day I called the council and asked them if there were any court proceedings against me as I didn’t attend court Simmons the guy onthe phone told me council withdraw from the course and there were no further proceedings .
And there is no court decision or ccj on my credit files and I have really good credit history as well as score .
