Naturalisation queries to apply Children only

Dear Chaps,

I have few queries to apply Naturalisation for my children.

I am a British Citizen since 2014. My wife and children got their ILR in Nov 2021 and their nationality is India.
I am planning to apply for naturalisation for my children only and their age is 14 and 11. I would be grateful if anyone answer my questions below.

1. Is there any website to download the Naturalisation form instead of applying online?
2. Do they need good character certificate along with referrals?
3. What to do if School & GP denied to give their personal details as a first referee?
4. Do they need to write life in UK/English qualify exam?
5. Do they need to attend ceremony?

Kind Regards,
Naveen

Paper application is not recommended - takes longer and you have to send in original documents. https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... n-form-mn1
2. Do they need good character certificate along with referrals?
There's no such certificate - they tick the relevant boxes in the form.
3. What to do if School & GP denied to give their personal details as a first referee?
Find other referees who qualify - UKVI are aware of the problem.
4. Do they need to write life in UK/English qualify exam?
Not required for under 18s.
5. Do they need to attend ceremony?
Ceremony is for over 18s only.

Kind Regards,
Naveen
Wy do you want to apply on paper?

Thank you for your quick response.

School asked me to bring the Naturalisation Application Form to check.

I think the provided Naturalisation (MN1) link is for who are living in the Channel Islands, Isle of Man, a British Overseas Territory or if you living outside of UK and want to apply by post. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The form is the same for all applicants, online or paper. Interesting why does the school want to look at it? Just the blank format or fully complete?

Note for nationality applications there are very few different forms, for adults and children it’s just one each, AN and MN1.

I think it's a blank format and no idea why they want to see the form.

It's look like for my case it is MN1 form as my children got ILR in November 2021.

Dear Chaps,

I have British passport since 2014. My wife and kids got their ILR in November 2021. My wife is not interested to apply naturalisation. So, I applied "register as a child" category for my kids and my kids have been submitted their biometric details.

But, People are saying that, I have applied in wrong category as I have to select Other option rather than register as a child category.

I would be grateful if you advise me on this and what to do next?

Kind Regards,
Naveen

MN1 is the correct form to apply for registration of children as British citizens.

Can you please explain what category you have selected? Under what heading is "register as a child"? By "Other" you mean "at Home Secretary's discretion"? Were children born abroad?
Please clarify.

Caseworkers will know under what category your children qualify based on the documents submitted, if they qualify for registration in the first place. It's not a case of you choosing the category and being refused because you ticked the incorrect option.
I don't believe you need to do anything - caseworkers would have contacted you by now if there's an issue.

Thank You for your response.

On MN1 form, Under the section Children born out of UK,
I selected wrong option "One or both of your parents is applying for British citizenship" instead of selecting
"Other - apply at the discretion of the Home Secretary".

I don't know what to do now as my children already submitted their biometric details and the decision is with HO

Do I need to contact Home Office for the same? Will they reject my application?

Kind Regards,
Naveen

You could send an email (quoting all details) to all the email addresses listed on this link, explaining the error:
british-citizenship/nationality-enquire ... l#p2093594

I would doubt that it would be straight refusal - especially if children qualify per the documents submitted.
