Subject: Inquiry Regarding First UK Passports for Twins Born in Pakistan

Dear Memebers

I hope this message finds you all well. I am a British Citizen by Naturalisation. I came to this Country in September, 2008 as a Tier 4 Student. Thereafter, I switched my Visa and applied for a Post Study Work Visa. I, then, applied for the Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa. Once I have completed my 10 years of legal stay in the UK, I have applied for my Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK (ILR). After obtaining the ILR status, I became a British Citizen through Certificate of Naturalisation in September, 2022. In November, 2022, I obtained my British Passport.

I am reaching out to inquire about the process and assistance available for obtaining the first UK passports for my twins.

My twins were born in Pakistan in May 2023, and they are currently 8 months old. As my wife is Pakistani, and she hasn't been to the UK before, I will be applying for a Spouse Visa separately.

Given my situation, I am seeking guidance on the necessary steps and documentation required to ensure a smooth application process for obtaining the first UK passports for my twins. The rules seem complicated to me, and I am not sure what I should be doing next.

My aim is to bring my Wife and my Children to the UK, and I do not want to risk or jeopardise anything without having proper knowledge.

Any assistance or information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Unsure what you are reading that you find complicated?

Note that passports from abroad can take many months.

Hi #CR001,

What is thr process to apply for first British Passport for my Children who were born in Pakistan, but they have claim to British Citizenship through Section 2(1)(a) of the British Nationality Act 1981.

Which application do I need to submit, and from where (from UK, or from Pakistan)?

The Children do not have Registration Certificate or Certificate of Naturalisation.

Do I have to apply for their British Citizenship before applying for their British Passports?

You just apply for their passports! They are British (you were British at the time of their birth). Apply abroad or from the UK. https://www.gov.uk/get-a-child-passport ... d-passport

Apply for passports online:
from abroad: https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports
within UK: https://www.gov.uk/get-a-child-passport ... d-passport
The application process will tell you what documents exactly will be required:
however at a minimum their birth certificates showing at least your name (father), foreign passport if they have them, and your claim to British citizenship (naturalisation certificate) and probably your British passport.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.

In the application form (if I, as a British Father, applying for their passports), I get this;

Important
If you’re applying on behalf of an adult or child, answer these questions with their details rather than your own.

Do you live in the UK?
(Because my Children are still in Pakistan, and they do not have any form of Identity document) Should I answer this as NO?

Thanks

NO is correct.

Remember your children are the applicants not you. So their details must be entered.

Hi,

Further in the application, it asks this;

"Do you have a naturalisation or registration certificate?
You’ll only have one of these certificates if you weren’t a British Citizen at birth, but applied to become British through the Home Office. This isn’t a birth certificate."

So, this what confuse me. They do not have either of them. Because, if I choose Yes from the option, I get this;

"If you’re applying on behalf of a child, make sure you’ve answered this question with their details and not your own."

So, do I have to choose NO from the options?

Thanks

Suggest fill the answers as per the facts don’t interpret them. That will take you to the right options.

NO - children British children from birth don’t have those certificates.

Hello again,

Based on my choices, I have now been given option to download the application form. This is what I got;

"How to apply

Download the application form.

Use the ‘Applying for a passport if you’re outside the UK’ guidance notes to help you fill in the application form.

Include 2 identical new photos of you (or your child, if it’s a child passport application). Follow the rules about passport photos or your application may be delayed.

Check the guidance notes to find out which supporting documents you must send with your application. You must get documents that aren’t in English - including documents showing an address - fully translated by a professional translator.

Fill in the parent contact details form if either of the child’s parents live in a different country to the child.

You should fill in the Applying for a passport from Pakistan form if you are submitting supporting documents from the UK."

Is that what I need to do? And, do I also have to fill in the additional Parent contact details form?

Thanks

What about those instructions is unclear? Those are the steps the official website gave you, so you should follow them. Do you have any specific questions?

For your child’s British passport application, you should also submit your naturalisation certificate, as that confers your child’s automatic British citizenship.

Greetings! Does anyone have any knowledge of contacting the HM Passport Office in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir (Pakistan)? I need to book an appointment to make an application for British Passport for my Child. The guidance says to email mirpur.hmpo@gerrys.com.pk but even after sending them email twice at different times I did not hear any response. Please can someone share their experience? Thanks

You cannot apply for a British passport locally in any country. Not sure what HMPO mirpur is. You need to apply online! Google HMPO overseas passports.

HMPO is not a visa/immigration operation.

If that is what the guidance says, suggest you try again. I have found this number for them on Google +92 58279 41700 but have no idea if it is accurate.
