Hi,
Geetings Everyone.
I am in boubt needs some clarification. Here is our situation.
Child is UK born but parents are settling now. I heard from colleague that my child will be eligible for naturalized citizenship once we receive settled status since he is UK born. However are still going for ILR for him due to out of country travel needs.
My question here is that once my child gets ILR, does he has to wait for 1 year to apply for citizenship or he can apply anytime even he gets ILR status since he will be UK born with settled status by then.
Thanks

Children are Registered as British. Only adults are Naturalised! Yes, a UK born child has an entitlement to register as British once either parent gets ILR.
However are still going for ILR for him due to out of country travel needs.
Does the child have a current visa? A lot of money to pay for ILR when it is not needed.

No!

You can apply for the child as soon as you have settled status. The child does not require ILR.

Thanks for response CR001.
Reason I am still going with ILR for child due to some travel plan in near future and considering citizenship application takes much longer time. I understand your point it will be waste of money.
But is it technically even possible to apply citizenship just after getting iLR for child in this case or we have to wait for 1 year
Thanks

Your child doesn't need ILR so you can apply at any stage, before or after child gets ILR. Depending on how long your trip will be, maybe a visa extension will be cheaper than ILR if the trip can't be avoided/postponed.

I did ask if the child has a current visa but you have not answered the question.
If they have a visa, when does it expire?
When are you applying for ilr?
When do you plan on travelling?

you can apply for visa extension instead of ILR, I am assuming it won't be a trip longer than a year. You can submit registration application once you get settled status and then apply for the visa extension in due course before you are due to travel.
