Passport application queries

Hi everyone,

I have a few questions about the passport application (following a naturalisation ceremony). I'm thinking of applying online and there are a few technicalities I'm not quite clear on.

1. How long after the ceremony can you apply for a passport? Is it possible/advisable to apply the same day, once you have the certificate?

2. Do you send the supporting documents off after the entire online part of the application is complete? How are the documents linked to the rest of the application? (i.e. application number)

3. At what point in the process is the ID checker emailed to confirm the applicant's identity?

Tried googling these but got differing answers. Was wondering if anyone on here had any insight?

Thank you!

Yes, I applied on the same day

2. Do you send the supporting documents off after the entire online part of the application is complete? How are the documents linked to the rest of the application? (i.e. application number) Yes, you are prompted to send them after the referee confirms your identity. You will write the reference number of your application on the envelope.

3. At what point in the process is the ID checker emailed to confirm the applicant's identity? Right after you submit they will be sent an email, with the reference number to apply. They will need to input some details that you have to send them in advance such as your full name, your date of birth and address.

Tried googling these but got differing answers. Was wondering if anyone on here had any insight?

Thank you!
