Hello everyone

We gramted our ILR few days ago.

My elder child has tier 1 dependant visa valid till Aug 2024.
And my younger one born 3 months ago.

For my elder one I need to apply Naturalisation (MN1) then British passport ?
Correct ?

For my younger one who hasn’t got any passport, born just before we got ILR. Do we need to get naturalisation for younger one to just like our elder one or can we straight apply for first British passport ?

Please advice on this

Thank you

Regards

Was the older child born in the uk or born abroad?

Younger child has to be registered as british on mn1 if they born in the uk before you got ilr. Only a british citizen can apply for a passport, the child is not british.

Hi

The first child was born in uk.
And the second child was born 2 months ago we got ILR.

So as per my understanding we need to apply MN1 for both and then British passport. Correct ?

Thank you

Can apply for MN1 if both children were born in the UK. If one child is born abroad they will need ILR first.

Hi.
I am filling up MN1 form for younger one.

In the form they asking for nationality and it’s mandatory to choose.
She is born in UK and has got only birth certificate.

So which country shall I choose ?
There is no option for UK.

Please advise on above.
Thank you.

I imagine you passed your nationality to your child when they were born.

Passport is not required, birth certificate is the alternative. Caseworkers will know child is only 4, just show the one address for five years.

It's the parents' nationality.
It wouldn't be UK - birth in itself doesn't qualify child to UK citizenship, claim to citizenship is through your ILR.

Thank you

The child is 4 months old.

Lastly
About 2 referees. :
1st one should be who has engaged with child in a professional capacity ; such as teacher, health worker, social worker etc.

Can we use pharmacists ? Or do I need one from the above only ?

And
2nd referee can be anyone who holds British passport. Correct ?

Thank you

Pharmacist is a registered professional so it would be OK. It is notoriously difficult to find professional referees for very young children and HO is aware of that, so you can also use a family friend from a recognised profession who has known you for 2 years and knows the child. Second referee must be over 25 years old and British.

Thank you.

So I will use pharmacist (British) as 1st referee.
And
2nd refereee will be British who is 30 years old employed.

Moreover,
It’s about the elder child.
Child has valid visa till end of August.
So if I apply Naturlisation can child travel while the application in process ?

Please confirm.

Thank you

Not after August. Registration (not naturalisation, as your child is under 18) is not an immigration application so after August, if the application hasn't been approved yet, your daughter won't be able to travel. Also it is highly advised for you to sort out private medical insurance during the waiting time while your daughter won't have a valid visa.

Yes.

Thank you

They asked for some mandatory documents which are as below:

1- If Miss CHILD 1 has a passport then provide this with your application. If Miss CHILD 1 does not have a passport then you must provide another officially issued identity document. This could include an official travel document or national identity card.

Que-1 : child has only birth certificate, no other documents like passport or travel document or identity card.
Is birth certificate enough ?

If Miss ccChild 1 told us that their parent is a British citizen then you must provide us evidence of their citizenship. This could include their British passport, a certificate of citizenship or their birth certificate.

Que-2 I mentioned in application parents are not British citizen but they are settled in UK. still they asked for the above document and I have to tick it and tick means I need to submit it.
What’s shall I do about it ?

Que-3 same question as 2 but for second child.

Please advise me on above.

Thank you

Is birth certificate enough ? Provide the UK birth certificate, this is a normal application, happens regularly.

What’s shall I do about it ? Nothing, it says "if child told us" - and you will provide your ILR proof. You can always include a covering note explaining this and ticking the box.

Hello everyone

I have prepared application for both.

Just wanted to double check : the uk born child even got UK visa doesn’t need to complete 5 years or any other rules to follow for applying citizenship.

Child was born in feb 2020 and then got visa till aug 2024. And both parents granted ILR in March 2024.

I m pretty sure it’s fine but can someone please confirm.
Thank you.

Hi

On the referee forms do I have to glue/stick the photo ?
is it recommend to use physical photo on the form and scan it ?

Or can I also copy paste the photo in the box taken at home ?
Has someone done that ?

Please advice on above thank you

You are ok sticking the photo to the form that’s the only purpose for the photo. Home made or machine made is ok as well..

So basically it will be reckoned to stick the photo rather than editing the pdf and add the photo in the box.
Correct ?
