Hi,

My 10 year old daughter's ILR BRP card expired recently on 25/FEB/2024.
We are in the process of applying UK Citizenship for her and while filling the MN1 application it asks "Are you able to provide a biometric residence permit (BRP) card with this application?"

The options provided are below.
(a) Yes, and it is valid
(b) No, my BRP is lost or stolen
(c) No, I have already sent my BRP to the Home Office
(d) No, I do not have a BRP for my most recent leave

As the BRP card expired, could you confirm the option we can select; (a) or (d) from the above.
Hope we need to select option (d) and if we select (d), hope it wont affect the application as ILR has no expiry even though BRP card expired.

Thanks in advance
N Mathew

I would select d and explain in a cover note. UKVI is phasing out BRPs soon. Please note that daughter will need a BRP until the end of 2024 to be able to travel.

Thank you very much for your quick reply.
We don't have any plans to travel until end of this year. In case of any Emergency travel abroad (Our close relatives live in India), are there any other options for our daughter to travel without BRP card renewal until end of 2024(as ILR is still valid).

It is strongly advised you get a replacement BRP after you submit the application. BRP is what at the moment shows your daughter has a right to live in the country.
