Hi guys. I have my citizenship ceremony booked end of May as I am getting naturalized. My wife and kids born outside UK, who came as my tier 2 dependents initially, received their ILR in September last year. Can they apply directly as soon as I attend the ceremony or do they need to wait till September to complete their 12 months?
I am confused as I was under the impression that the 1st scenario was possible, and I am getting the same answer from Internet, but I called home office and they said they have to wait 12 months post ILR before applying. Not sure if they did not listen to my scenario correctly. Can anyone help please?

Your wife (and child) can apply as spouse of British citizen once you have attended the ceremony, they don't need to wait 12 months. (Refer to the AN guidance.). For the child there are no wait periods anyway (Refer to MN1 Guidance).
You actually spoke to a Home Office call centre run by a third party and the call agents are not UKVI caseworkers... they will tell you what is public available, and not necessarily applicable to you.

Yes, immediately after you become a citizen.
