Drink and Drive( Fine only ) and British Citizenship

Good morning All,

I hope you all are enjoying the bank holiday weekend.

I would like to apply for the British Citizenship. However, I have a small concern.

I was involve in the drink and drive case in dec 2021. Outcome was only fine and court did not banned me for driving and no points were lost on the DL. No other punishments.

Judge said I have consumed court's time hence there is a fine. which I cleared it very next day when I received the letter from court. This letter I received was in June 2023. Due to some reason my case got delayed and finally it was closed in June 2023.

Now I want to know if I will be considered as a criminal ? Nothing coming up under Basic DBS check but this what this Gov website has to say:

Conviction 1 Unspent
This conviction will be spent on 7 June 2024

Does that mean I am clear after June 7th 2024 and can apply for the B. Citizenship?

FYI - I have cleared all the other exams and tests.

Any advise is much appreciated.

Best Regards,
Vik

I would wait until the 8 June when the conviction will be considered spent, and explain in a cover note the timeline of your offence, the court's decision and the actions you took. if this is your only offence it is unlikely to cast a doubt on your character.
